Display Boards

We have 2 systems for connecting display boards together

OR

Panel and Pole Systems

Display Boards are generally constructed as a honeycomb sandwich between two thin facings to create a rigid, but lightweight panel. The panel is then usually covered with a Velcro compatible fabric, usually loop nylon, which allows display items to be applied and removed without leaving a mark.

At Displaykit, we have 3 grades of Display Board available:

Baseline Panels which are lightweight, 10mm thick Exhibition Board, with an 18mm thick Grey PVC frame. One face is recessed to allow graphics up to 3mm thick to be left on the panel when the kit is folded shut. Baseline panels are particularly suited for Folding Panel Kits and Table Top Displays but can also be used for small panel and pole set ups.

Baseline Aluminium is the same 10mm thick panel as above, but the frame is made with Satin Anodised Aluminium.

Baseline Plus Panels are 17mm thick Exhibition Panels within a 25mm thick Grey PVC frame and therefore studier than standard Baseline panels. Again, one face of the panel is recessed, but a little less at 2mm. Baseline Plus is also suitable for use as Hinged Display Boards, but their sturdier construction also makes them more suitable for Panel and Pole set ups.

Exhibition Display Boards can be linked together by several methods. For self-assembly panel kits, the 2 main systems are:

Folding Display Boards, which are very popular for fast to assemble panel kits. The boards are permanently connected together with hinges so that they can be folded open and closed for transport and storage. We have 2 grades of Exhibition Display Panels that we use for folding panel kits - Baseline and the thicker and more sturdy Baseline Plus. The types of organisation that tend to use Hinged Display Boards include, Schools, Churches, Clubs and Associations. With a loop nylon covering, notices and information can be updated regularly, whilst the recessed face created by the frame means that display pieces can be left in place when folding the kit down for storage or transport.

Panel and Pole Display Boards comprise individual display panels that are linked together with snap-on clips that attach boards to poles. This system is more adaptable than folding panel kits because the boards are not permanently linked together. The panels and poles are separate components, so there is far greater flexibility to create layouts, shapes and designs. Panel and Pole systems are particularly useful for Self-Build Exhibition Stands and a range of accessories enables you to create a display area specific to your requirements. Stands can be set-up with a plan layout that enables the display to stand on its own, without additional support. However Straight Feet or heavier Circular Baseplates can also be used to help support the stand and stabilise end panels.

Artists generally prefer Panel and Pole Systems for Art Exhibitions, being more robust than displays created with folding panel kits. By adding heavier baseplates to the poles, the structure has greater stability, which is important when you are hanging larger framed paintings. Framed artwork can often be hung using Hook and Loop Fastener. The loop nylon nylon covering on the panels makes a good connection with the male hook fastener, but you should staple the fastener to the frame to ensure a firm fixing. Alternatively, Picture Hanging Systems are available which can be hooked over the top of the Display Panels. These systems have wires or rods that hang vertically and you simply clip your artwork to the hangers. The systems are adjustable so that you can move the clips to suit your display.

Boards are available in standard sizes, such as 900 x 600mm, 1000 x 700mm and up to 2250 x 1000mm. However, panels are made to order and can be supplied at custom sizes to suit your stand design. Sizes are edge to edge, so when calculating the straight line length of a wall, you need to add the pole diameter, plus about 5mm. The grey clips and poles are available in two sizes, 16 and 25mm diameter. 25mm is best for Baseline, giving greater rigidity to the panels, whilst 16mm is good for Baseline Plus. This is because the pole is thinner than the panel, so you can span graphics panels across the joint on the flush side.

Schools and Colleges use larger Art Display Boards that can be stored on site and then quickly erected in an assembly hall to display students work. Available as larger 2000 x 1000 or 1800 x 900mm panels, they can also be used as room dividers or to screen areas when not required for display purposes. These Jumbo Display Panels are available as 3 or 4 panel hinged kits, or as separate boards in a Panel and Pole system.

Our display boards are generally covered with loop nylon fabric, which is velcro compatible. There is a range of 6 Foam Backed Loop Nylon Colours - Black, Plasma Red, Royal Blue, Emerald Green, New Grey and Gunmetal. You can have one colour on the front face and another on the reverse, if that flexibility is more suitable for you.

Standard panel kits come complete with Panel Bags. There is a range of Basic and Standard Bags available and you may wish to upgrade from Basic Bags to Standard Bags. Basic Bags have carry handles, whilst Standard Bags are also provided with webbing and a shoulder strap.

Panel Bags are excellent for carrying boards and loading them in a car, or similar. However, there may be situations when you want extra protection and a Panel Case may be more suitable. These are lightweight boxes with a wire frame for strength and then covered with a 1.4mm thick polypropylene sheet. Whilst this gives more protection, we do not recommend these cases for more vunerable situations like air freight. You could add more resilient panels to line the inside of the case and protect the panel faces from impact. Alternatively, custom plywood cases can be made or flight cases with wheels.

The appearance of any display is improved with the proper use of lighting. We have a range of Display Lights that are suitable for Exhibition Display Panels, and these are now mainly energy efficient LED's. Some are fitted with a bulldog clamp that attaches the light to the display board. Others may require a Universal Light Fitting Kit that adapts the fixing method to suit panels.

In conclusion, the Advantages of Display Boards are:
